About UPStandards

We built UPStandards because we needed it ourselves.

UPStandards LLC is a California-based software company built by a clinician for clinicians and operators in behavioral health. Not a Silicon Valley team that learned what TJC is by Googling.

Real licenses. Real program experience. Real survey weeks.

Why We Exist

Built from the inside out.

Most behavioral health compliance software is built by software people who learned the difference between TJC and CARF by Googling. UPStandards is the opposite. The platform was built by someone who's spent twenty years founding, running, and providing therapy in behavioral health programs — and who has personally led multiple agencies through Joint Commission accreditation as the staff member responsible for ongoing compliance.

That experience shapes the product in ways that show up everywhere. The Document Builder produces the documents surveyors actually ask for, in the order they ask for them, because someone here has assembled those documents at 11 p.m. the night before a survey week. The Facility Compliance Tracker runs Environment of Care rounds on the cadence TJC expects, because someone here has missed a round and had to explain it during a tracer. The Clinical Chart Auditor scores findings on the SAFER Matrix because someone here has watched a surveyor open a chart and do exactly that.

This is software built by the kind of person who has been on both sides of the survey table — and who got tired of building the same artifacts from scratch every accreditation cycle.

If that sounds like the platform you've been waiting for, you're probably right.

What We Believe

A few things we won't compromise on.

These aren't slogans. They're the design rules we've used to decide what UPStandards is — and what it isn't.

Real standards, not metaphors.

Compliance software shouldn't translate accreditation into corporate-speak. Surveyors cite codes. Our chart audits and rounds reference those codes. NPSG.15.01.01 stays NPSG.15.01.01 — and the page about how the platform addresses it is written for people who already know what that means.

Per-site, not per-seat.

Behavioral health programs hire and rotate staff constantly. Per-user pricing punishes you for that. We charge by site so your bill matches how you actually budget — and your team can grow without re-negotiating your contract.

The BAA is the platform, not an add-on.

Every customer signs an executed Business Associate Agreement with UPStandards LLC before using the platform with real PHI. Not "contact us for a BAA." Not "enterprise tier only." Real signatures, audit trail, downloadable from your account anytime.

We're not an EHR.

UPStandards handles compliance, audit, facility rounds, policy management, and accreditation readiness. Your treatment plans, progress notes, lab results, and clinical documentation belong in your EHR. We respect that line — and the Terms back it up.
